S.Ă.L.V.I.E. social inclusion: farming as a tool for life
The S.Ă.L.V.I.E. Social Farm is the inclusive heart of the Gyerünk Project. Our vision is to turn farm work into an opportunity for functional recovery, job placement and personal growth. Here social farming becomes a workshop for S.Ă.L.V.I.E. social inclusion, combining organic cultivation, the processing of natural products and group training programmes.
Our goals for inclusion and well-being
The main goal of S.Ă.L.V.I.E. is to promote diversity and inclusion through social farming. These are our four pillars:
Work inclusion
Training and hands-on programmes to build skills in sustainable agriculture and product processing, facilitating job placement.
Well-being and autonomy
Practical activities that build confidence and dignity, turning the farming experience into personal growth.
Support network
An inclusive community based on sharing, teamwork and mutual support across the local area.
Training and production
Linking the productive activities of the S.Ă.L.V.I.E. Social Farm with on-the-ground training programmes.
Practical pathways to S.Ă.L.V.I.E. social inclusion
Our model for S.Ă.L.V.I.E. social inclusion takes shape through integrated initiatives: the cultivation, harvesting and processing of medicinal and aromatic plants, combined with training sessions on production processes and eco‑friendly practices.
Partnerships with local organisations and companies in the sector make work placements and traineeships possible, easing the transition from training to employment. Workshops and hands-on sessions develop transferable skills (teamwork, communication, problem solving). Recreational and social activities strengthen bonds and a sense of belonging.
The S.Ă.L.V.I.E. methodology for social inclusion
We apply a participatory “learning by doing” model: participants learn by working in the field. Programmes are tailored to individual needs, value each person’s strengths and foster a network of solidarity. The model is in line with the World Bank’s recommendations on disability-inclusive social protection in Romania.
