The double helix philosophy
Like DNA, our model intertwines two strands: the association’s social mission and the enterprise’s economic sustainability. Distinct but united, they support each other. The model was conceived by Nicolò Soresi, founder of the association, for the Gyerünk Project.
The two strands
Non-profit association (NGO)
It focuses on the social mission and draws on funds, grants and donations to maximise its impact on the community.
Social enterprise (SRL)
It operates on the market to generate its own revenue and profit, ensuring the financial sustainability of the whole ecosystem.
A three-level structure
In Romania, an association cannot be the 100% sole shareholder of several SRLs. That is why we designed a three-level structure that ensures compliance, protection and scalability.
Level 1 · Governance
Guardian of the social mission: it sets the ethical standards, owns the real estate and holds 100% of the holding company.
Level 2 · Holding company

It holds the group’s stakes in the operating companies, collects the related profits and directs them to the mission.
Level 3 · Companies in which the holding has a stake
They are the group’s economic engines: companies in which the holding has a stake, working on the market with business risk kept separate from the association’s assets.

Cross-subsidy
This is the mechanism that turns commercial profit into lasting social impact, through an ethical and controlled flow of capital.
- Production – the operating companies generate products and services for the market.
- Consolidation – the share of profits due to the holding company is distributed to it and brought together in a single entity controlled by the association.
- Reinvestment – the holding company transfers the profits to the association, its sole shareholder, which uses them for the mission: for example, to cover the running costs of the IBOLYA Residence.
The result is self-sufficiency: the care mission is supported by the economic pillars, with less dependence on one-off donations.
The advantages of the model
Legal compliance
It respects the sole-shareholder rule and makes it possible to operate on several fronts.
Asset protection
Business risk stays isolated in each company and does not affect the association.
Scalability
New business initiatives can be added without changing the structure of the association.
Simple governance
The association directly manages a single entity: the holding company.
One Health: human, environmental and social health
The Gyerünk Project recognises that the health of people, the environment and the community are connected, and works on all three.
Human health
Long-term care and hospice at the IBOLYA Residence, with a holistic approach that respects dignity.
Environmental health
Organic cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants at the S.Ă.L.V.I.E. social farm, which regenerates the soil.
Social health
Work integration (WISE) programmes and vocational training to empower vulnerable people.
The infinite sequence
The model is designed to repeat itself: a concrete need gives rise to a solution which, once it becomes a business, funds the mission and the next innovation.
- Identification – a specific need becomes a problem with a replicable solution: Gabriele’s disability and his limited mobility.
- Innovation – the solution is developed and tested within our ecosystem: GabryTrike, the assisted mobility kit, is born.
- Scalability – a group company industrialises it and brings it to market: GabryTrike is being developed by Spazio Dor and was presented at the New European Bauhaus 2026 (gabrytrike.com).
- Replicability – commercial success funds the mission and new initiatives: the method is ready for the next idea.

The story of the project: A bike for everyone.
